Local builder donates residential property to township fire department, ahead of demolition, presenting a rare opportunity to host authentic training scenarios for volunteer firefighters.
MUHLENBERG, PA – Forino Co., L.P., donated a residential property, slated for demolition, to the Muhlenberg Township Fire & Rescue, Berks County Company 66, for a rare opportunity to run realistic training scenarios for more than 40 of the station’s active volunteer members in the month of March.
“Knowing that the home had to come down, we wanted to ensure we were working with our community partners and helping to give back to the community. It gives us a great sense of pride to know the local fire department can perform on-site training that they need to be able to continue to provide best in class services within the communities they serve,” said Nathan Pletscher, Director of Business Development for Forino Co., L.P.
Forino Co., L.P. specializes in residential and commercial construction and redevelopment throughout Berks, Lancaster, Lehigh, and Schuylkill Counties in Pennsylvania, and Beaufort and Jasper Counties in South Carolina. Established by Tony Forino in 1975, Forino has built over 7,400 residential homes and developed over 90 communities and counting.
The Muhlenberg Township Fire & Rescue hosts training opportunities for its volunteer firefighters weekly and will be hold training at 4536 Sefranka Road, Temple, PA 19560 this month. The training opportunities will include hose line advancement and roof ventilation. Hose line advancement scenarios include properly running and deploying 200’ of hose when entering and moving throughout a residential property for fire suppression efforts. Roof ventilation allows evacuation of heat, smoke, and gases from the structure and allows the fire and rescue team to continue search and fire suppression tactics within a structure.
“Muhlenberg Township Fire & Rescue is appreciative of Forino Co., L.P. in offering an acquired structure to us for training purposes, prior to its demolition. This type of opportunity allows firefighters to conduct realistic training scenarios within a residential dwelling which further prepares our personnel for emergency responses within our community,” said Alex Lupco, Fire Chief.
The Muhlenberg Township Fire & Rescue will be sharing the experience on their social pages, so be sure to give their page a follow! If you are considering supporting the Muhlenberg Township Fire & Rescue volunteer firefighters, please call the station at 610.929.8050.
